INDIA

India is the largest democracy of the world. It is second in the world from the number of habitant point of view. Its population was 1,144,658,721 (Feb 19th 2009, source (Indian Population Clock). India is situated in the southern Asia. India’s geographical area of 3,287,263 sq km makes it the seventh largest areawise country in the world. It has a coastline of 7515 kms. It has international borders with China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and  Myanmar.

Indian republic consist of 28 states and 7 union territories(UT) with a parliamentary system of democracy. There are in total 543 parliamentary constituencies. Rajasthan is the largest geographical area and Uttar Pradesh is the most populous among the states. Uttar Pradesh has maximum repersentation of 80 members in the Indian Parliament (Lok Sabha).Out of seven, 2 UTs (NCT of Delhi and Pondicherry) do have their own state assemblies.
