West Bengal

West Bengal is an important state with its international borders with Nepal and Bangladesh. It has a good industrial infrastructure and politically very important place. It has 39 parliamentary seats in the Lok Sabha. Population of the state is 80,176,197 and area is 88,752 sq km.  Principal language of the state is Bengali.

In 2011 assembly lections, Mamta Banerjee led AITC-INC alliance registered a thumping win with a joint tally of 226 seats in 294 member assembly.

17th May 2011: Ms. Banerjee along with other members of her Ministry will be sworn in by the Governor on Friday.
