Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh has maximum number of parliamentary seats (80) in the Lok Sabha. Hence, the outcome of the elections from this state has a significant influence on formation of the centeral government. Uttar Pradesh has produced most number of prime ministers for India. Agriculture is the main occupation of the state and has a large industrial base.  The state has an area of 2,49,928 sq km. Population of the sate is 166,052,859. It has 80 parliamentary constituencies.  Principal languages of the state are Hindi and Urdu.

15th March 2012> Akhilesh Yadav sworn-in as youngest CM of Uttar Pradesh. 47 ministers take oath with him.
