Trends/RESULTS : UTTAR PRADESH BYE ELECTION - November 2009 Elections

Ferozabad Parliamentary Constituency Result:

Congress candidate Raj Babbar won from Ferozabad Lok Sabha constituency by a huge margin of 85, 343 votes, defeating his nearest rival Dimpal Yadav of Samajwadi Party.

Assembly Constituencies by-election results

BSP showed its strength by winning 7 out of 11 ACs in Uttar Pradesh, for which elections held on 7th Nov. 2009. 

While Rahul Gandhi spent a considerable amount of time travelling across the state before the elections, Mayawati did not campaign at all for the by elections here. Mayawati Magic seems to have overshadowed the Rahul wave in Uttar Pradesh.

Bahujan Samaj Party's tally of 7 includes Etawah assembly constituency as well, the home district of Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.

 

BSP's Chandra Bhadra Singh alias Sonu Singh defeated his nearest rival Jain Narain Tiwari of the Congress by a margin of over 49,000 votes in Isauli.

In Hainsar Bazar, BSP candidate Dashrath Singh Chauhan trounced his nearest rival Neelmani of Congress by over 8,000 votes.

In Etawah, BSP candidate Mahendra Singh Rajput defeated SP candidate Vimal Bhadauria by a margin of over 32,000 votes.

In Padrauna, BSP candidate and former state minister Swami Prasad Maurya defeated his nearest rival Shakir Ali of SP by a margin of over 50,000 votes.

BSP retained Lalitpur and Rari(Jaunpur) assembly seats respectively by defeating their rivals from Samajwadi Party.

In Lalitpur, Suman Devi Khushwaha of BSP won by over 14,000 votes defeating SP candidate Chandra Bhushan Singh.

In Rari, Rajedo Singh of BSP defeated Om Prakash Dubey of SP by a margin of 12,586 votes.

The BSP also won Bharthana assembly seat, which was represented by Mulayam Singh Yadav in the last state assembly elections.

Congress won the Lucknow(west) seat from the BJP with Shyam Kishore Shukla defeating BJP's Amit Puri by over 2,000 votes.

In Powayan assembly seat BSP candidate Virendra Prasad was leading by more than 27,000 votes over his nearest rival Mr. Chetram of Congress.

Independent candidate Ajay Rai won the Kolasala assembly seat by defeating JP Mishra of BSP by a margin of over 8,000 votes.

In Jhansi, BSP won by a narrow margin of 9 votes.

RESULTS : UTTAR PRADESH VIDHAN SABHA BYE ELECTION - August 2009 Elections

21st Aug., 2009, In Uttar Pradesh, the ruling BSP won threee seats; Malihabad, Bidhuna, and Moradabad West.

RLD, an NDA partner, retained Morena.

With this win, BSP's strength in 403-member state assembly has gone up to 218, reducing the SP to 88. BJP is down to 48, with Congress 19 and RLD 10.

In Malihabad, BSP's Siddhartha Shankar defeated Kaushal Kishore of Rashtriya Communist Party.

In Moradabad West, BSP's Balram Singh Saini vanquished Congress's Shaulat Ali.

In Bidhuna, BSP's Mahesh Verma got the better of SP's Geeta Shakya.

RLD's Mithilesh Pal won against BSP's Noor Salim Rana to retain the Morena seat.
