Results Gujarat & Karnataka By-Elections 2010 16th Sept., 2010 : Results are declared today for the two assembly constituencies of Karnataka, for which by-elections were held this monday. The by-poll was required after the death of 2 seating MLAs KM Krishnamurthy, and Chandrashekar Patil Revoor. The ruling party in Karnataka BJP managed to win in one seat, BJP candidate bagged the Kadur assembly constituency. The JDS candidate managed to bag the other seat, he got elected to state assembly from Gulbarga South constituency. The Indian National Congress (INC) suffered a major blow as it could not win any seat this time. Below is the detailed result:
Gujarat By-election Result: 17th Sept. 2010: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won the Kathlal assembly seat in Gujarat for the first time and ended the Congress' long-term political dominance in this part of Central Gujarat. This win also strengthens the BJP ahead of elections for municipal corporations scheduled for Gujarat. By-election in Kathlal assembly was held on Sep 13 due to the death of Congress MLA. "This victory is a defeat for the CBI and the Congress," said Chief Minister Narendra Modi after the results. Below is the detailed result:
Update: 16th Sept., 2010, The Election Commission has accepted the Congress demand for re-poll in six stations in the Kathlal Assembly constituency in Gujarat, where a by-election was held on Monday. In view of the re-poll on Thursday, the counting of votes scheduled for Thursday has been deferred by a day.
