Jharkhand Mukti Morcha

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (Jharkhand Liberation Front) is a political party in the state of Jharkhand.  It had 5 members in the 14th Lok Sabha, among them 4 MPs were from Jharkhand.  The JMM has an influence in the neighbouring state of Orissa & West Bengal.  Shibu Soren is the president of the JMM.

In the state assembly elections in 2005, JMM came second & got 17 of the 81 seats.  The party is an active member of the United Progressive Alliance. 

In 2009 General Elections, JMM contested 42 seats and won only 2 seats down by three from its 2004 level of 5 seats.

JMM perfromed well in the recent Assembly elections and JMM's chief Shibu Soren became chief minister for the third time on 30th Dec. 2009. JMM is heading the coalition government with the help of BJP and AJSU.
