Arunachal Congress Arunachal Congress (AC) is a recognized state political party of Arunachal Pradesh. AC came into existence as a result of split in Congress in September 1996, when its state leader & chief minister Gegong Apang who revolted against P.V. Narasimha Rao, the then congress leader & formed the Arunachal Congress. The party won both seats of Arunachal Pradesh in the 1998 Lok Sabha elections & joined hands with BJP and was among the founding members of the National Democratic Alliance. After a poor performance in 1999 General Elections and State elections, AC regained its political influence in 2003, when a breakaway faction of congress joined hands with Mr. Opang and they formed United Democratic Front and became chief minister. Later, Mr. Opang joined BJP but AC still exists. In 2004 elections, AC lost the seat it contested from Arunachal Pradesh. In 2009 elections, AC failed to win the only seat it contested.
