Schedule for General Election to the Legislative Assembly of Jharkhand 2009 23rd Oct, 2009, Election commission in a press breiffing announced the election schedule for the state of Jharkhand. The polling will take place in 5 phases for the 81 assembly constituencies. The term of the Legislative Assembly of Jharkhand was to expire on 09.03.2010. The State of Jharkhand is under the president rule since 19th January 2009, keeping the State Assembly under suspended animation. President rule was subsequently extended up to 18th January 2010 and cannot be extended further. In light of above, elections are to take place in the State to install a popular government before 18th January 2010. Schedule for the First Phase was later modified in a separate press briefing by election commission on 28th Oct. 2009. Below is the final schedule for the state assembly elections for the state of Jahrakhand.
Total no. of assembly constituencies in the state of Jharkhand are 81. Out of which 9 seats are reserved for the SC and 28 seats are reserved for the ST.
State Assembly Elections 2009: Maharashtra, Haryana and Arunachal Pradesh
Schedule : State Assembly Elections 2009 31st Aug. 2009, election commission in a press breiffing announced the election schedule for the three state namely, Maharashtra, Haryana and Arunachal Pradesh. The terms of the Legislative Assemblies of Arunachal Pradesh and Maharashtra are due to expire on 24-10-2009 and 03-11-2009 respectively. The Legislative Assembly of Haryana has been dissolved by the Governor of Haryana under sub-clause (b) of clause (2) of Article 174 of the Constitution vide Notification No. HVS-LA-89/2009/72 dated 21-08-2009 with immediate effect. By virtue of its powers, duties and functions under Article 324 read with Article 172 (1) of the Constitution and Section 15 of Representation of People Act, 1951, and having regard to the constitutional provisions as interpreted by the Supreme Court in Special Reference No. 1 of 2002 (AIR 2003 SC 87), the Commission is under the constitutional mandate to hold General Elections to constitute the new Legislative Assemblies in the States of Arunachal Pradesh, Maharashtra and Haryana within a period of six months before the expiry of the present term or within six months of the premature dissolution of the Legislative Assembly. Asked why elections in Jharkhand were not being held simultaneously, the CEC said it did not have jurisdiction to hold polls there now. This was because the term of the assembly there was ending on March 9 next year and EC had only six months jurisdiction to advance polls, he added. The Commission has prepared the schedule for holding General Elections to the Legislative Assemblies of Arunachal Pradesh, Maharashtra and Haryana after taking into consideration all relevant aspects, like the climatic conditions, academic schedules, festivals, prevailing law and order situation in the States, availability of Central Police Forces, time needed for movement and proper deployment of forces, and assessment of other ground realities. Accordingly, the commission has finalized the following Schedule for general elections to all the Assembly Constituencies of Arunanchal Pradesh, Haryana and Maharashtra:

STATE ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS SCHEDULE April -May 2009 Election Commission of India issued a noticfication on 2nd March 2009 that the assembly elections for the states of Andhra Pradesh, Orissa and Sikkim are to held simultaneously along with the General Elections 2009's schedule.
